Decisions by state leaders on the tax code, the legal climate and regulations all affect the economy and job creation in our state.
The focus of state leaders is currently fixed on Louisiana’s budget challenges and solving what has become a long-term structural deficit. This is a real problem that needs a smart solution. The causes of the deficit are well-known: the state has a revenue problem, a spending problem and fundamental problems with the structure of the budget itself.
State leaders are currently debating legislation to generate as much as $2 billion in new revenue to fund state and local government operations. Discussions at the Capitol also rightly acknowledge that state spending must be part of the solution, as well as long-term budget reform and cost controls, so that we can provide a more stable and predictable future for our state.
